Dessert Ideas to Pair Perfectly with Tea

RECIPES & TIPS

Oregon Chai Tea and Dessert Pairing

Chai tea and delectable desserts can make the perfect pair of sweet and spice. Chai alone—an aromatic indulgence with a mixture of chai spices, including ginger, clove, cardamom seed, cinnamon and star anise with complementing Assam black tea—satiates the senses. But what more can you do to satisfy your chai palette?

Here are a selection of our favorite dessert pairings that complement our Traditional Chai Tea and Original Chai Tea Latte, from Sugar Free to Slightly Sweet (taste-testing encouraged). Of course, we recommend brewing a pot in advance for some baking inspiration.

  • Thick or glazed pastries
  • Desserts using semi-sweet or unsweetened chocolate
  • Cinnamon-spiced bakery, such as carrot cake and cinnamon rolls
  • Unsweetened cheesecakes
  • Pumpkin or apple-cinnamon muffins
  • Chocolate cakes or brownies

When pairing just isn’t enough, add chai as an ingredient in your favorite recipe. Try this chai tea latte recipe below.

Apple Chai Cheesecake

Ingredients:

Crust

  • 3 cups Graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • Combine and press into spring form pan. Bake 15 minutes at 300 degrees F.

Cream Cheese Filling

Fruit Flavoring

Directions:

Beat cream cheese until soft. Slowly add sugar and flour. Beat two minutes. Add eggs and egg yolks one at a time, beating after each addition. Add whipping cream and Oregon Chai Original Chai Tea Latte Concentrate. Set aside. Sauté the apples in butter until they are slightly tender. Add brown sugar and chai and cook until bubbly. Pour mixture over cheesecake crust. Top with cream cheese mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, and then reduce heat to 300 degrees and bake until set—about one hour.

Whether you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth with dessert or steep yourself in adventure by discovering a perfect pairing with chai, we hope our recipes and pairing suggestions make you feel right at home.
